        Hi Quilters,

We have a couple of great classes coming up for you in November.  Terrie Eskew will be teaching the “Shoppings Done! Gifts Wrapped!” quilt.  Making these presents will be lots of fun!  The technique for this quilt is stack and slice.  It calls for fat quarters – 10 red, 10 blue and 10 green.  This class is Thursday evenings, Nov. 6, 13 & 20, 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.

We are happy to introduce a new teacher to Old Town Quilt Shop – Sharon Wyche.  Sharon has been quilting for 15 years and lives in Nipomo with her husband and three cats.  She will be teaching a beautiful quilt called “Kaura’s Delight” which you can view in the shop or on our website.  This class will be two Wednesday evenings – Nov. 19 and Dec. 3.

Sign up now for our “Git ‘er dun for Christmas Retreat” on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 6 & 7.  It’s the perfect time to finish up all your quilting projects for Christmas, and then you’ll have time to make cookies!!

We will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 27 & 28.  But we will be open on Saturday for a very festive Holiday Open House.  We invite you to join us for refreshments and demo’s, and we will also have a special guest with us.  Larry Eskew will be here to sharpen your scissors ($8).  All Christmas fabric, patterns and books will be on sale 25% off.  It will be a fun day so plan on stopping by.

Some of our newest arrivals include:

         Sweethearts – Benartex
         Back Home – Clothworks
         Louisa – Moda
         Hip Hop Hearts – Northcott
Bottled Poetry (a beautiful wine/grapes group) – Wilmington Prints
         Seasons – Clothworks
(This panel consists of four mini-panels – one for each of the seasons.  It’s bright, colorful and cheery, and would be great fun to quilt.)
Recipe for Friendship by Mary Engelbreit – Moda
         Natural Splendor – Wilmington Prints
         Bistro (coffee theme) – Moda

Moda has also come out with a very cute “Learn to Sew Quilt Kit.”  It is perfect for the beginner who wants to learn to quilt.  The kit includes a tote bag, step by step flash cards, a charm pack, binding, yarn and needles.

For all of you in the Strip Club, you’re final project will be revealed at the November 8th meeting, and the workshop will be December 13th.  Also, at the workshop, please bring all your Strip Club projects for a Show & Tell time.  If you have jelly rolls you haven’t used yet, not to worry, after the first of the year we will schedule classes from time to time using strip patterns.

Coming up after the first of the year we will have a “Memory Quilt” class taught by Shelby Kostman.  You will learn how to create a one-of-a-kind quilt commemorating a special event, graduation, birthday, anniversary, retirement, or a lifetime.  Shelby will teach ways of representing events through patchwork, appliqué, embroidery and photo-transfer.  Save these dates:  January 15, 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. and January 31, 10:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Also, coming up in February we are delighted to have award winning National Quilt Association Certified Teacher Sandy Turner with us teaching her “Birds in the Air” quilt.  The date for this class is February 28, 10:00 – 4:00 p.m.  Sign up early.

We at Old Town Quilt Shop wish you a blessed Thanksgiving.  We give thanks for all of you and for your support.  Happy quilting!
